No doubt you caught today’s news that Sen. Hillary Clinton has been nominated to be the next Secretary of State. Before we start feeling too proud about how far “we” have come, take five minutes and forty-six seconds out of your day to watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-IrhRSwF9U.
If I had only one shot at one blog to post, it would be to bring you this link.
Enjoy – or maybe not.

My first reaction to this is..."what a bunch of ignorant pigs". And "how sad, I had no idea that these comments were made: I was talking to my mom the other day about you blog and she said something interesting that I had not heard before. She feels that one of the main reasons men continue to fight to keep women "down" is that they learned at a early age the power and strength of women through their mothers. They fear this as adult men. Interesting thought. Thanks for sharing this video. I am sending to my sisters and mom.

I watched the video, and I have to say I'm not quite as outraged as I thought I would be. Why? Because the clips were all from a select few speakers from a select few media sources - Fox News and MSNBC, etc. I may be in the minority on this, but I honestly don't think the average American feels that way about Hillary Clinton or other women in power.
Umm...for some reason I showed as anonymous in that last comment, but I didn't mean to! It's Robin W.
Travis and I watched it as well. While these are not the messages I want my own daughter to hear about women, (esp. Hillary!)I probably wouldn't have noticed them if they hadn't been compiled like that. I remember defending some sexist comments that were made against Palin at one point around here- not because I like her, but because they were sexist! And it's interesting that I notice sexism sometimes...maybe if I am looking for it, or expecting it? On the same note, what about people (like my own mother) who did not vote for Hillary...because of Bill? My mother dislikes her, because she says Hillary let him 'run around' on her.

WOW! That video is an eye opener. I had read that the media were really hard on Hillary, but I was not sure what that meant, now I know. I get my news from NPR, so I was not aware that this HIllary bashing was going on.
I think it is remarkable that Hillary has gone as far as she has politically taking into cosideration she has the "BILL" problem. I have never understood why she didn't divorce him.
Changing the subject: I read this morning that Brazilian designer Lucia Lorio introduced women's lingerie in October containing a global positioning device to enable the wearer to be tracked by satellite. This is to make it easier for women kidnapped by thugs or terrorists to be located and rescued. I really like this idea. I think it is terrific that someone is out there wanting to help the millions of women who are kidnapped, rapped, harmed in unspeakable ways. At the very least designer Lorio is bringing to the publics attention that something needs to be done to help women who have been attacked.
I have a better idea, why don't we implant such a tracking device into the males who have been found guilty of crimes against women and children and track them via satellite. I doubt this will ever happen. In our local newspaper we publish the pictures and names of sexual predators every month. I like the implant idea better.
